Moisture Meter for Caravans (Traillers) and Mobile Homes defect caravan

Use our instruments to detect moisture that has penetrated into walls and cielings at an early stage - prevent damage due to high moisture values! (patches, cracks, mildew, mould, musty smells, rot in the structure, bad temperature isolation etc.)
Preserve the value of your valuable vehicle by regular checks with one of our measuring devices!

The classic structure of a wall for caravans and moble homes is generally an outer windproof and warterproof skin, followed by an insulating layer (made of various materials) and a plastic or paper-coated barrier layer. Severe damage can be produced as a result of moisture:
If there is incorrect ventilation, water vapour can diffuse through the walls and penetrate into the insulating layer and also into structural frame parts. If, for example, moist warm air encounters a cold surface, it is then cooled, the moisture can no longer be held in the cooled air and precipitates out as condensation and makes the walls damp (the same effect as the formation of condensation when cooking).
Moisture can likewise penetrate from the outside, into the walls of the caravan during fog and rain as a result of leaks due to seals that were not applied properly or which have been damaged by ageing, for example, and also as a result of damage to the external skin.
Moisture is an ideal breeding ground for mildew and the structure itself can be severely damaged by rot, which not only produces unpleasant smells but can also be harmful to your health. In addition this dramatically reduces the quality of the vehicle. It is also possible to produce an electrically-conductive connection between, e.g. aluminum and iron as a result of the moisture that has penetrated, and this can lead to decomposition of the aluminium. This effect is known as aluminium corrosion. And important to know is also that a wet isolation is a bad isolation compared with a dry one.

A dampness measuring device makes it possible to detect existing damage due to dampness and to check  the drying process. New sealing should only be done, with plastic-coated walls in particular, once the moisture hase been extracted, otherwise the moisture will be trapped inside and the rod will become worse.

For that reason we recommend as follows:
Regulary check the amount of moisture in the walls and cieling of your vehicle, mark the corresponding points and carefully note the measured values so that you can detect any unsealed areas in an early stage and take suitable countermeasures.
